Another Good Thing About My Cruiser

Sure, when I was looking under the hood the gas struts gave up and dropped the hood directly onto my head. But it did it the same way the Cruiser does everything else: very, very slowly.

Kinja'd!!!

It didn’t so much hit me in the head as I was working in there and I felt something cold on the back of my head and then a little bit of weight. If I had been wearing a hat, I may not have noticed at all.

I’ve got a headlight bulb out, so now I’m shopping for replacements. I’m leaning towards Silverstar Ultras, but I’m always interested in recommendations.

Also, I briefly considered naming it after my favorite (least favorite by such a wide margin that he’s kinda my favorite) politician...Ted Cruzer. But I have too much respect for the Cruiser to associate it with the Zodiac Killer.

A failing hood strut and stupid lazy and incompetent mechanics are the reasons I have a nipple dent in my hood now. good times.

Ultras are good bulbs, but not much is going to increase the output of the reflectors in there. did you do the damage to the bumper?

I was not so lucky with the 7-series. The hood struts have pressure in Florida where it’s warm, but when I drove home for winter break, the hood stayed up long enough for me to reach inside. Then it came crashing closed

Ted Cruzer would be a mix of Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio.

The e38 had bad trunk struts. One day I forgot the visegrip while parking on a incline and diving into the trunk. The trunk came down and the striker assembly left a nice bruise in my back for a while. Best part I started cursing and smacking the crap out the trunk. I bought trunk struts that night.

Nah, it was like that when I got it. It’s pushed in a little bit on the passenger side, PO must have rear ended somebody. Frame is good, and I’d like an ARB bumper at some point anyway so it’s a good excuse to replace it.

I’m guessing a Chevy Cruze. It’s a wholly appropriate name for a Chevy Cruze.

It looks like mine. you can take it off and bang it back to shape pretty easy, which I did...then I bent it again with a hilift and now I don’t care. its not very thick or strong metal.

Gives it character, haha. Maybe after the winter I’ll do something about it. I’d also like to remove my flares and I’m considering a wrap...like a flat desert tan maybe.

I like the deflare look, but its a lot of work to do it right, plus the flairs help WAAAY more than I thought for keeping the truck clean.

Hmm. Maybe wrap it and paint the flares to match, or satin black on the flares. There’s also a dude that sells pocket flares that look pretty good, but they’re pricey.

I seem to be the last person that likes the 90's two tone Toyotas, smh

I like two tone, just not one of these two tones. If it was silver and gray I’d like it better, but its champagne and gray.

At least it’s better than the early 80 series with the red lower trim.

Yowza
